KLF will be held in the auditorium complex of the historic Old GMC Heritage Precinct, Dayanand Bandodkar Marg, Campal, Panaji, Goa. The majestic building, part of Old GMC Heritage Precinct, is home to Entertainment Society of Goa and is the venue of popular India International Film Festival.
Another yellow and white building that is part of the Precinct, with its Roman and Gothic style architecture, semi-circular arches, porches and pillars resembling the Doric Order, long corridors, ornamental windows, wooden balustrades and cast iron railings, pilasters, mouldings and oculii was once part of the Palace of Maquinezes or Palacio dos Maquinezes. Built in 1702, the Palace belonged to two brothers, Diago da Costa de Ataide e Tieve (a squadron leader) and Cristovam da Costa de Ataide e Tieve, known by the name of Maquinezes. In 1842, it became home to Asia’s oldest medical college – the Escola Médico-Cirúrgica de Nova Goa (Medical-Surgical School of Nova Goa) established by the Portuguese. Nova Goa was the former name of Panjim. In 1963, after the Indian annexation of Goa, the institution was re-named as the Goa Medical College (GMC). The GMC was later relocated to Bambolim in 1993.
